UPDATE Kennedy-Chase Debate

Our exclusive debate between Senator Edward Kennedy and Republican Ken Chase will air Tuesday October 10th from 8:00p.m – 8:30p.m.

Kennedy-Chase Debate

We’re pleased to announce that Senator Edward Kennedy and Republican Senate candidate Ken Chase have agreed to a debate on a special edition of The Chet Curtis Report.   The date of the debate will be announced at a later time.  This will be, from what we understand, the sole debate of the campaign.

Former Secretary of Defense William Cohen

Tonight’s guest is former United States Secretary of Defense William Cohen (1997-2001).  Prior to serving at the Pentagon, Secretary Cohen represented Maine in the United States Senate and House of Representatives for nearly 30 years.  He’s married to my former Channel 5 colleague, Janet Langhart.  We discussed a range of topics including Iraq, Afghanistan, the future of Secretary Don Rumsfeld, and Secretary Cohen’s new novel, Dragon Fire.

Schedule Change

The interview with Nora Ephron, originally scheduled to air tonight, will instead air tomorrow night, Wednesday September 13th.  Tonight, Boston Globe reporter Charlie Sennott will be on the program to discuss his recent trip to Afghanistan.

9/11 Remembered

Tonight we bring you a unique perspective on the tragic events of September 11th.  Attorney Kenneth Feinberg, Special Master of the Federal Government Victims Compensation fund, sits down for a rare one-on-one interview.  Attorney Feinberg is a Massachusetts native and — in short — was solely responsible for deciding how much money each victim’s family received from the federal government.  He discusses “putting value on a life” — which he says he did not do — and the emotional experiences he had with the families of those who perished five years ago.

9/11: Five Years Later

Tonight’s guest is an amazing woman named Carie Lemack,  Carie’s mother, Judy Larocque, was a passenger on American Airlines flight 11.  Carie is one of the founders of Families of September 11th, a group dedicated to helping victims’ relatives and supporting policies that address the threat of terrorism.  In short, Carie is a fighter — her energy and determination will inspire you.

Nora Ephron

Chet Curtis and Nora Ephron

Legendary writer and director Nora Ephron came to NECN today to tape an interview.  What a delight — smart, funny, charming…the list goes on.  Nora’s new book is entitled “I Feel Bad About My Neck and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman.”  The full interview will air Tuesday September 12th at 8:00pm.

Gubernatorial Debate

The Democratic candidates for Governor of Massachusetts will debate live on NECN from 7pm – 8pm on Thursday September 7th.  Chet and his guests, Democrat Warren Tolman and Republican Chris Egan, will provide full analysis live on The Chet Curtis Report at 8pm.

Hurricane Katrina Anniversary

Tonight’s program is a half-hour special devoted entirely to the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.  Our guests are NECN’s Karen Swensen and Josh McElveen, both of whom worked at WWL television in New Orleans during the catastrophe.

Friday night’s guest

Friday night’s guest is Paul Rieckhoff, Executive Director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and author of Chasing Ghosts: A Soldier’s Fight for America from Baghdad to Washington.  Paul has been on the program before — he’s well spoken, well informed and will almost certainly be a major player on the national scene in the coming years.
